Kevin & Kelsey | Wedding Film |Spruce Mountain Ranch
Kevin and Kelsey rented a mechanical bull for their wedding.
Let me go ahead and reiterate that, just to let the full enormity of its awesomeness sink in: Kevin and Kelsey rented a MECHANICAL BULL. For their WEDDING.
Now, I’ll be totally honest– if every single one of my conversations with this wonderful couple contained no further information than, “Hi. We’re Kevin and Kelsey. We rented a mechanical bull for our wedding. Would you like to film it?”, I still would have fallen over myself to say “Yes”.
But the thing is, they just kept getting cooler.
Kelsey has a dog named Chewbacca. Kevin was making jokes in the voice of professional wrestler “Macho Man” Randy Savage ten minutes before he walked down the aisle.
I LOVED working with this couple.
I say this about a lot of my clients, and I genuinely mean it — I’ve been absurdly lucky to have collaborated with some truly great people — but Kevin and Kelsey were extra fun. I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our partnership.
From the first time we spoke on the phone, I immediately got the impression that the two of them would be an absolute BLAST to work with. And I was right.
The two of them could not have been more enthusiastic, or brought more positive energy to the event. The love and affection they have for each other was was real, contagious, and carried over to their entire family and all their friends– everyone I met was 100% committed to making the day special, and having fun doing it. It was a true pleasure to kick ideas back and forth with everyone before the wedding, and even more fun to capture them enjoying themselves on the day of the event. It was pretty cool to see so many people celebrating simply being in each other’s company.
Kelsey baked her own wedding cake. Her mom made her dress. (Which was AMAZING) During their ceremony, they invited as many of their friends and family to share with them as they could. They had many of their loved ones speak, give readings, sing, and offer prayers with them, and it was lovely to see so much support and encouragement.
And the reception? Just insanely fun.
I won’t lie– the mechanical bull was RIDICULOUSLY entertaining. It was definitely novel, and fun, and unspeakably hilarious. but I know why Kevin and Kelsey rented that goofy thing: They knew it would be memorable. They wanted everyone to leave with those images of cackling, unguarded laughter, and familiar faces squealing with joy and surprise. They wanted their friends and family to be happy. With them. And I think that’s GREAT.
I’m so grateful they asked me to be a part of it.
Lastly, I want to extend a gigantic “thank you” to my good friend, and frequent collaborator, Kris Farruggia, for helping me out on the video as a *phenomenal* camera assistant and second-shooter. There’s no way this would have turned out as well without the benefit of his time, talent, and indefatigable hustle. It’s always an enormous pleasure to work with him. Can’t thank him enough.
